COURSE SYLLABUS

Hours Required: 150 Full Time Schedule / 28 hours per week / approximately 6 weeks.
• 100 hours in Online Theory
• 50 hours in On Campus Practical

On-Campus Practical:
Tuesday: 9.00am – 12.00pm, 1.00pm – 3.00pm
Thursday: 9.00am – 12.00pm, 1.00pm – 3.00pm.

Program Description:
Nail Technician is a 150-hour course designed to train students to become licensed Nail Technicians upon
graduation. The Nail Technician Program is designed to train the student in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, business skills, and desirable attitudes necessary to obtain licensure and for competency in job entry-level positions in Nail Technician or a related career field. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion and will qualify to take a state board test to become licensed as a Nail Technician.

Curriculum and Units of Instruction:
The nail technician curriculum and hours of instruction in this technology shall consist of 150 hours or equivalent credit hours. Students will demonstrate knowledge and skills objectives in the following areas:
1. Orientation: School policies; and state law, regulations, and professional ethics.
2. Sterilization, sanitation, bacteriology, and safety.
3. Anatomy and physiology.
4. Diseases and disorders of the nail.
5. Nail procedures (i.e., manicuring, pedicuring, and nail extensions).
6. Nail theory and nail structure and composition.

Manicures 30
Pedicures 15
Individual sculptured nails and nail tips 200
Individual removals 10
Individual nail wraps 20
Total Performances 275
